Use Claude Code to build, configure, and deploy frontend applications to Vercel with automatic preview deployments and environment setup.

Setup

  1. 1.
    Install and authenticate the Vercel CLI
    Claude Code uses the Vercel CLI to deploy, manage environment variables, and check deployment status. Install it and log in.
    npm install -g vercel && vercel login
  2. 2.
    Link your project to Vercel
    Run vercel link in your project directory to connect it to a Vercel project. This allows Claude Code to deploy and manage the project.
    cd /path/to/project && vercel link

    Add deployment conventions to CLAUDE.md
    Tell Claude Code about your deployment environment, framework, and any build-time requirements so it can configure Vercel correctly.

Can Claude Code deploy to production on Vercel?+
Yes, using vercel --prod. However, it is recommended to use Claude Code for preview deployments and let your CI/CD pipeline handle production deployments after code review.
Does Claude Code work with Vercel Edge Functions?+
Yes. Claude Code can write Edge Function code, configure the runtime in vercel.json, and deploy it. It understands the constraints of the Edge runtime (no Node.js APIs, limited package support).
Can Claude Code set up Vercel environment variables?+
Yes. Using the vercel env command, Claude Code can add, update, and list environment variables for development, preview, and production environments.
